The N95 respirators are used when exposed to an airborne precaution. The respirators are designed to protect the wearer from the inhalation of airborne contaminants. A tight seal is formed over the mouth, and so, a fit testing is required so that the respirator can be adjusted to your face.

  The surgical mask is designed to protect the sterile field and work environment from the wearer's spit and mucous. It is not sized for individual fit, and therefore, covers the mouth and nose loosely.
